CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL:  MDO WILL FOLLOW THE DECISION OF ENID PUBLIC SCHOOLS AS TO CANCELLATION DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. PLEASE LISTEN TO LOCAL RADIO OR TELEVISION STATIONS FOR INFORMATION.  IF ENID PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED, MDO WILL BE CLOSED.  THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OF-TEN. WHEN IT DOES, THE DAY WILL NOT BE MADE UP.

ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES:  YOUR CHILD SHOULD NOT ARRIVE TO CLASS BEFORE 9:25 A.M. UNLESS SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR EARLY CARE. (SEE REGISTRATION FEE SECTION OF THE ENROLLMENT PACKAGE). PLEASE BRING YOUR CHILD TO HIS/HER CLASSROOM EACH DAY. TRY TO ARRIVE BY 9:45 A.M. AS CLASSES MAY BE LEAVING ON FIELD TRIPS OR HAVE A SPECIAL PROJECT TO START.                ARRIVE PROMPTLY AT 2:30 P.M. TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD. IF AN EMERGENCY ARISES CALL THE DIRECTOR.

EMERGENCY NUMBERS: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR EMERGENCY NUMBERS ARE FOR WHO YOU WANT CALLED IF YOU CANNOT BE REACHED. THIS PERSON WILL BE CALLED IF YOU HAVE NOT PICKED UP YOUR CHILD ON TIME. AFTER 2:40 P.M. A CHARGE OF $5.00 WILL BE CHARGED TO YOUR TUITION BILL.  IF NO ONE HAS BEEN REACHED BY 3:00 P.M. THE DIRECTOR WILL TAKE YOUR CHILD WITH HER. IT WILL BE UP TO YOU TO LOCATE HER (THIS IS NEVER EASY).

FOOD

BRING LUNCHES IN A LABELED BAG OR LUNCHBOX. NO THERMOS BOTTLES PLEASE! PLACE A CUP (SIPPY IF NECESSARY) IN YOUR CHILD’S LUNCHBOX EACH DAY!  IF SENDING FOODS THAT REQUIRE A SPOON OR FORK, PLEASE INCLUDE ONE IN YOUR CHILD’S LUNCHBOX. ALL NON DISPOSABLE CONTAINERS SHOULD BE LABELED. FINGER FOODS THAT YOUR CHILD CAN HANDLE AD FOODS THAT HAVE BEEN CUT IN CHILD-SIZE PIECES ARE BEST. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT EAT WHAT YOU SEND, THE TEACHER WILL INFORM YOU OR RETURN UNEATEN FOOD TO THE CHILD’S LUNCHBOX. FEEL FREE TO TRY SENDING NEW FOODS! IF YOUR CHILD IS A BIG EATER, PLEASE PACK PLENTY OF FOOD. A HUNGRY CHILD CANNOT LEARN.

SNACKS

PRESCHOOLERS WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE SNACKS FOR THEIR CLASSROOM SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE YEAR. WE REQUEST THAT SPECIAL ATTENTION BE GIVEN TO NUTRITIOUS, LOW TO NO SUGAR FOODS, AND JUICE. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT CLEAN-UP CAN BE TIME CONSUMING FOR THE TEACHERS. CUPCAKES ARE PRETTY BUT MESSY. YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER WILL SEND A NOTE HOME WITH SNACK SUGGESTIONS AND INFO ON ANY FOOD ALLERGIES THAT STUDENTS MAY HAVE.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Lambs:

4 large diaper wipes, 2 large pkg. of 4 D Batteries, 2 large pkg. of C batteries, 2 large tissues, 3 Clorox/Lysol sanitizer wipes, 4 paper towels, 3 Wet Ones hand wipes. BRING PLENTY OF DIAPERS AND MORE THAN ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES EACH DAY!

REMEMBER: LABEL EVERYTHING! THIS INCLUDES DIAPERS, NAP BLANKETS, CUPS AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT HE/SHE MAY TAKE OFF, WEAR OR BRING WITH THEM TO SCHOOL.

5 Clorox/Lysol Sanitizer wipes, 5 Wet Ones antibacterial hand-face wipes, 4 full size paper towels, 3 boxes of diaper wipes, 2 boxes of aloe lotion tissues, 3 cans of Clorox/Lysol sanitizing cleaning spray (original scent), 1-30 oz. bottle Hand Sanitizer

Bullfrogs:

3 Wet Ones antibacterial hand wipes, 3 boxes diaper wipes, 2 cans spray, 1 pkg. napkins, 2 pkgs 50 count paper plates, 2 purple glue sticks, 1 (4 oz.) Elmer’s school glue, 8 count crayons (classic color) large or triangle not Jumbo, 1 plastic folder, 1 large backpack, change of clothes including socks, blanket, 3 Clorox/Lysol disinfecting wipes, 1 large box of Ziploc bags(sandwich or quart). 1 roll paper towels, (1) 30oz. hand sanitizer and nap mat.

Bumblebees:

1 Lysol disinfecting wipes (8-9oz), l pkg paper plates (50 count), 1 box (100 count 5oz.) Dixie Kitchen cups, 1 plastic school box, 2 boxes (24 count Crayola crayons), 2 plastic folders, 1 box plastic spoons, 40 count hand wipes, nap mat and 1 LARGE backpack.

Explorers:

CLOTHING

CLOTHING WORN TO SCHOOL SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE AND EASY FOR THE CHILD TO REMOVE DURING BATHROOM BREAKS. SOFT LEATHER SHOES OR SNEAKERS SHOULD BE WORN SO CHILDREN MAY PARTICIPATE IN LARGE MUSCLE MOVEMENT ACTIVITIES. BOOTS (EXCEPT DURING CHEROKEE STRIP FESTIVITIES) AND FLIP FLOPS ARE NOT ALLOWED. WE DO TRY TO PLAY OUTSIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE SO ALWAYS BRING APPROPRIATE COVERING FOR THE SEASON. BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHING IN A ZIPLOC BAG WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON IT. DON’T FORGET TO CHANGE THESE EXTRA CLOTHES WITH THE CHANGE IN THE SEASONS.

WELCOME TO OUR MDO PROGRAM. WE KNOW YOUR CHILD WILL HAVE A POSITIVE AND EXCITING LEARNING EXPERIENCE WITIIOUR FINE STAFF.

CURRICULUM: OUR PROGRAM HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO PROVIDE MORE THAN BABYSITTING. WE ARE VITALLY CONCERNED WITH YOUR CHILD’S COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL, AND EMOTIONAL WELL—BEING. OUR ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED TO PROVIDE A BALANCE OF MANIPULATIVE PLAY, THINKING/REASONING SKILLS, AND TO STIMULATED ACTIVITY THROUGH THE ARTS AND MUSIC. CLASSROOMS DIFFER ACCORDING TO THE AGE AND ABILITIES OF THE CHILD. ALL CHILDREN HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXERCISE (OUTDOOR PLAY AS AGE AND WEATHER PERMITS), FREE PLAY, LANGUAGE ENRICHMENT, LOVE, AND POSITIVE INTERACTION WITH ADULTS IN A CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT. DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR WE WILL USE MONTHLY THEMES. BASIC CENTERS IN EACH CLASSROOM. MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS AND/OR CALENDARS WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED EACH MONTH.

DISCIPLINE: IN THE CLASSROOM, OUR TEACHERS USE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. IF THERE IS A DISCIPLINE PROBLEM. WE USE TIME-OUT TO HELP THE CHILD REGAIN CONTROL AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR IN A NON-THREATENING WAY. MINUTES SPENT IN TIME—OUT ARE EQUAL TO THE AGE OF THE CHILD IN YEARS.

PLACEMENT: YOUR CHILD WILL BE PLACED IN THE MOST APPROPRIATE CLASSROOM FOR HIS/HER AGE LEVEL. CLASSROOMS ARE SET UP FOR A PARTICULAR AGE RANGE AFTER REGISTRATION. THE AGE RANGES IN A ROOM ARE THUS DICTATED BY THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN ENROLLED FOR ANY PARTICULAR AGE GROUP. PLACEMENT IS MORE BY CHRONOLOGICAL AGE RATHER THAT BY DEVELOPMENTAL AGE. IF WE SEE A PROBLEM ADAPTING TO THE AGE GROUP IN WHICH HE/SHE HAS BEEN PLACED WE WILL CONTACT YOU. CHILDREN THAT HAVE BIRTHDAYS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY MOVED TO ANOTHER CLASSROOM. IF A DECISION IS MADE TO MOVE CHILDREN TO ANOTHER CLASSROOM, THE PARENT WILL BE CONSULTED FIRST.

PLEASE KEEP YUP. CHILD AT HOME lF HE/SHE HAS:

                • A fever or has had one during the previous 24 hours.
                • Been on antibiotics less than 24 hours.
                • Liquid and/or frequent bowel movements.
                • A deep chronic cough. 
                • A colored nasal discharge.

If your child requires medication, please administer before arriving.

YOU MUST SPEAK WITH THE DIRECTOR BEFORE LEAVING ANY FURTHER MEDICINE TO BE ADMINISTERED. YOU MUST SIGND AN AUTHORIZATION INSTRUCTING THE DIRECTOR AS TO TIME AND DOSAGE FOR THE MEDICATION. NO OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION WILL BE PERMITTED OR GIVEN BY ANY STAFF MEMBER.

If your child becomes ill while at MDO, we will try to locate the padrents and then the persons listed as emergency contacts. Please keep us updated on changes of phone numbers and employment locations.

A copy of your child’s immunization record must be incur files two weeks from the beginning of school. Please make sure it IS up to date.

LICE POLICY

Students who have lice need to be appropriately treated and ALL nits must be gone before the student may return to school. No one likes to talk about lice. We are certainly do not want to spread it. Please be certain your child is NIT-FREE before returning.

BITING POLICY

Occasionally, we will have a biting problem. Parents will be informed so they may Work with their child to correct this problem. It is hard! After 3 incidents, the child will be removed from the program. That is for the protection of all children.
